Research-Derived strains

Our team has extensive expertise in comparative genomics. We use advanced technologies like Single Molecule, Real-Time (SMRT) sequencing for comprehensive whole-genome sequencing of our bacterial strains. This allows us to identify antibiotic resistance, virulence factors, and other crucial genes, ensuring our strains are safe and free from antibiotic-resistant elements. Additionally, our genome mining platform detects beneficial genes that enable probiotic bacteria to produce novel metabolites to combat pathogens.

*
Colonization and Bioactivity

Most commercially available probiotics for oral and respiratory health can’t effectively colonize or adhere to human tissues because they lack essential adhesion proteins. We have developed new artificial models to ensure that our strains can successfully colonize the human body and deliver their beneficial effects.

*
Fermentation & manufacturing

Bio-fermentation is a process where bacteria consume nutrients to grow and produce beneficial natural products. We partner with leading probiotic manufacturing facilities to optimize this process and ensure the quality, purity, and effectiveness of our probiotics.

*
Clinical Testing

We collaborate with leading academic research institutes and prominent primary investigators to validate our thoughtfully designed probiotic formulations through double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials. Initially, our in vitro (preclinical) data help us ensure the safety of our probiotic strains and identify their ability to produce novel beneficial molecules, which are tested against a range of pathogens. For certain health indications, we also collect animal data to discover new endpoints and benefits for the human microbiome.

*
Multispecies Biofilm

We have developed an innovative multispecies biofilm model that replicates the complex biofilms found in the human oral cavity. Since most oral bacteria within the human microbiome exist as intricate multispecies biofilms, our new model allows for robust screening and testing of biotherapeutics and probiotics. This ensures that our products can effectively modulate bacterial communities not only in liquid environments but also within these challenging multispecies biofilms, enhancing their potential for oral health applications.

Unique and novel Probiotic Strains

Our goal is to develop beneficial microbes from the human oral microbiome, human breast milk, and fermented food, which are known to be rich sources of natural products with a range of biological activities.

Health Indications

Our research programs fuel product innovation across multiple categories to support the development and maturation of the human microbiome from birth through all stages of life
